State Technical Assistance Providers

State Technical Assistance Providers (STAPs) are responsible for the provision of Technical Assistance (TA) for the TB SWAp at State and local levels.

Previously, technical assistance was provided by the Trail Bridge Support Unit (TBSU)/HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation. After the implementation of TB SWAp Framework –II (2014-2019), RTAPs, composed of NGOs/private consulting firms through joint ventures, have assumed these tasks and responsibilities.

In order to ensure smooth transitioning of roles and responsibilities, TBSU/HELVETAS has envisaged and stationed its staff for ‘accompanied capacity building’ within STAP premises. As a part of this process, STAP staff are taking the lead in six States (1,3,4,5,6,7), while being and capacitated by TBSU/HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation staff. While in the remaining one state (State 2), one Special Focus Units have been established by TBSU/HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation for direct provision of TA support, later to be handed over to STAPs once they have been capacitated.
